Middlebourne, WV…The FASTRAK Northeast and
Mid-Ohio Valley Late Model Touring Series returned
to Tyler County Speedway on Saturday night to
conclude the feature event that was rained out on
May 1 for race #2 on each Series’ respective
schedules.
Veteran Super Late Model
standout Mike Blose was awarded his career first
FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series victory
in the 25-lap, $1,500 to-win feature. The
52-year-old New Bethlehem, Pa. driver actually
crossed the finish line in third, but advanced two
spots when apparent winner Mike Pegher, Jr. was
disqualified following the race for unsportsmanlike
conduct and runner-up Max Blair was penalized two
spots for hitting a cone.
All 24 qualified cars returned
and took the green for the feature. Shawn Jett
grabbed the lead at the green flag with Joe Loudin,
Blair, Pegher and K.C. Burdette occupying the top
five. Blair blasted by Loudin and Jett for the lead
on lap two.
Pegher would make his way to
second. Just like the first Northeast/MOV Touring
Series event back on April 17 that drew 53 cars, the
duo went at it again, racing door to door for the
lead. Pegher turned up the heat and zipped by Blair
on lap on lap 21 for what appeared to be the winning
pass.
Pegher then held off Blair for
the apparent win in a reversal of April 17; however,
the two wouldn’t remain first and second in the
official finish. Pegher was stripped of his victory
due to unsportsmanlike conduct by a crewmember
following the event. Blair meanwhile clipped the
infield penalty pylon in turn two on the last lap
necessitating a two-spot penalty.
Blose then was awarded the
unexpected victory in his Primitive Peddler/Country
Palace/Victory Signs & Decals-sponsored #5 and
became the 17th different winner in 36
events all-time. Kyle Thomas, who started 12th,
finished a Touring Series career best second and
extended his Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series lead.
Thomas would later win the night’s regularly
scheduled FASTRAK Late Model feature bringing his
night’s winnings to $1,300.
Blair was third and improved on
his advantage in the Northeast Touring Series
points. Gary Knolling was fifth over Josh
Holtgraver. Completing the top 10 were Shane Hitt,
Joe Martin, K.C. Burdette, Daniel Hill, and Freddie
Carpenter.
