Mineral Wells, WV…After 10 straight dry, hot sunny days, rain returned on Friday to kick off the big two-day FASTRAK West Virginia State Championship weekend.  With an 80% chance of storms throughout Friday and Friday night, the decision was made at noon to cancel the opening night of the richest FASTRAK Late Model event in the Northeast and Mid-Ohio Valley.

Friday was also to include the $1,200 to-win rained out May 16 Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series Feature.  That event will now be made up on Sunday, August 1 when the Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series returns for another $1,200 to-win event.

Saturday’s show is still on schedule as the weather is expected to clear by morning.  A complete program of time trials, heat races, B mains and the 50-lap $10,000 to-win, $400 to-start feature will highlight the night.  This is the first ever one-day $10,000 to-win show in FASTRAK history.  Though this is a National FASTRAK event, full points will be awarded to both the Northeast and Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series.

Gates open at 3 p.m. with hot laps at 7.  The West Virginia Motor Speedway is a wide 5/8 mile clay oval located in Mineral Wells, WV exit 170 off I-77, just south of Parkersburg, WV.  For more information, check out their website at www.wvspeedway.com
