January 20, 2011                    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(East Smethport, PA)…The McKean County Fair has been in existence for 105 years.  FASTRAK Northeast meanwhile will be embarking on its fifth season of competition in 2011.  Now for the first time ever, FASTRAK will gain a presence at this historic fair.  The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series will bring its brand of racing to the East Smethport, Pa. facility on Thursday, August 18.

“This is a very big announcement for FASTRAK,” stated fifth year Northeast Co-Director Vicki Emig.  “We have been asked continuously over the past few years by both fans and FASTRAK drivers from the northernmost part of our region to schedule a touring event as part of the fair’s traditional race event.  To now be part, shows the stature that FASTRAK has gained in this important part of our region.  We have to thank the fair board for giving us a chance to be part of this great fair tradition.”

FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series events have been held the past three seasons with huge success at the Expo Speedway as part of the Trumbull Fair.  Big crowds and large car counts have been the norm with exciting racing action.  These events always draw in fairgoers and will allow FASTRAK to be showcased to a new audience.

The fair event will bring the total of Northeast Touring events to four at McKean County Raceway for 2011.  The opening race will take place on Saturday, June 18.  Less than two weeks later, the cars and stars of the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Series will return for Night 2 of the Bully Dog “Cross the Borders” Speedweek presented by Contingency Connection on Thursday, June 30.  The fair event on August 18 will be followed up the annual “Fall Classic” on Friday, September 23.

“McKean was one of our four original tracks back in 2007,” explained fifth year Northeast Co-Director Mike Leone.  “McKean County Raceway’s promotional team’s support of FASTRAK has been unwavering over the past four years, which has been shown by continuous increases by both fan and driver support.  We’re thrilled to be able to have four events at their great facility this season.  The number of FASTRAK racers in the northernmost part of our region has always been strong and just continues to grow.  Just between their local racers and the Touring regulars, you have over 70 cars to draw from let alone any other FASTRAK racers from the rest of the Northeast Region.”

The offseason has already been filled with lots of exciting announcements from FASTRAK Northeast.  A new “Futures Cup” program will give teenage racers with less than two years of prior experience the opportunity to go after additional dollars.  Sharon Speedway announced they were adding FASTRAK to their weekly Saturday night card at their state-of-the-art facility.  Eriez Speedway jumped on board giving FASTRAK racers a Sunday night home.  Most recently, FASTRAK crossed the border into Canada with Humberstone Speedway adding the class on Friday nights.

In Northeast Touring Series news, Sweeney Chevrolet GMC became the Series’ first title sponsor.  Bully Dog will present the inaugural “Cross the Borders” Speedweek with an additional point fund paying $5,000 in cash and contingencies over the Independence Day holiday.  Additional news is expected soon around this five-night extravaganza.  A first ever “FASTRAK Northeast Fan Guide & Driver Handbook” will be produced in May.  Additional plans are also in the works.
