FASTRAK 'tweaks' National Weekly Championship

FASTRAK management has made the final decision to 'tweak' the City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship beginning with the 2011 season. The minor changes should make the championship more competitive for teams with smaller budgets and give them a real opportunity to take home the $10,000 1st place prize. "The point system itself has been great" stated Stan Lester of FASTRAK. "Anytime you put a new system in place and its been tied all three years since inception, that means somethings working. However we did think we needed to tweak it a bit just to keep more teams involved. This will help our smaller budget teams and thats something we always need to do."

The only difference will be that teams will get to count their best 2 finishes of any given week during the racing season. "Some teams have 3 nights of racing, some have 2" said Jason Atkins of FASTRAK. "The teams that don;t have 3 nights will have an equal opportunity along with the teams that do. Some teams simply can't afford to race three nights a week so this will make the system more consistant and increase the opportunity for those teams. We have to keep our smaller budgeted teams in mind all the time. This is the orginal concept of FASTRAK and one we will continue to maintain".

CITY CHEVROLET NATIONAL WEEKLY CHAMPIONSHIP PAID THE NEXT MORNING

In what may be the greatest change to ever take place with the FASTRAK Racing Series, the GRAND NATIONALS have been tweaked to be more beneficial for ALL teams. Any team participating at Night 1 in their region, then participating in nights 2 and 3 of the GRAND FINALE, will receive a minimum of $500.

"The thing I heard during off season meetings this winter was that we were forgetting the 'little guys' "stated Stan Lester, Founder of the series. "That was pretty much the sentiment across the entire country. Maybe we had gotten a little off course. So, I want to do this to let the so called little guys know, they are just as important as anyone at the race track. Without them there is no FASTRAK".

Not only will the teams be guaranteed $500 to come to the GRAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, but in addition they will only pay one entry fee for nights 2 and 3. That in itself will save each team an additional $150 bringing the real total versus the past to $650 to come to the GRAND NATIONALS.

The entire point fund of both the GRAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and the City Chevrolet NATIONAL WEEKLY CHAMPIONSHIP will be paid at 10:30 the following morning at a breakfast banquet making the races worth well over $250,000. All of the awards including cash, jackets, trophies, chassis and prizes will be given out at that time. No waiting on point money until January, no expense of going to a banquet or anything. Once again saving the race teams a ton of money.

"This resolves numerous issues the teams have asked FASTRAK to address" said Jason Atkins of the series. "1) Some regions didn't have as many cars, so coming back together for nights 2 and 3 resolves that. 2) Putting the point money into the hands of the teams immediately after the race is incredible. 3) Not being able afford to come, the $500 guaranteed plus $150 savings in entry fees resolves that. I really think this is the best idea to date for the FASTRAK GRAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP".

"I have talked with drivers, car owners, tracks and sponsors" said Lester. "Everyone really likes this idea. Although there won't be an actual purse nights 2 and 3, the trade off for getting the point money the next morning is much better than anything we have done in the past. It's pretty simple. In the past if a driver wins nights 2 and 3, he takes home $4000. This way if he wins and is the point leader, he takes home $30,000. Add to that the rest of the point fund PLUS paying off the City Chevrolet National weekly championship money plus the $500 in guaranteed money for teams not in the top 24 in points, this is a much better deal for everyone involved in the series. Everyone leaves with money in their hand. Thats a perfect world for everyone".
