September 20, 2011               FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)…The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series is proud to announce that through two fundraising efforts, it has been able to generate over $11,000 this season for the American Cancer Society!

Back on May 28, Sharon Speedway hosted “Racing for the Cure” as part of Tori Martin’s senior project.  Tori is the sister of FASTRAK Late Model standout Joe Martin and is a senior at Punxsutawney High School.  Through various fundraising efforts both before and during that Northeast Touring Series event, over $9,000 was raised!

The second fundraiser concluded this past Saturday night at Sharon’s fourth and final Northeast Touring Series event, when the season-long Golf Cars 4 All golf car was raffled off.  This fundraiser brought in an additional $2,000 for the A.C.S.  The winner of the golf car was ironically Troy Holtgraver of Pittsburgh.  Troy is the father of FASTRAK racer Josh Holtgraver.

“We’re really proud to be able to say over $11,000 was raised through FASTRAK,” stated Northeast co-Director Vicki Emig.  “Tori did a wonderful job helping to organize the May event with limited time, and we really have to thank Golf Cars 4 All owners Terry Hoover and Jeff Caldwell for providing the golf car not only for this fundraiser, but also allowing tech inspector Brad Hibbard the use of the vehicle all season long.  Troy then was gracious enough to allow Brad to continue using it through the remainder of the season!”

Aiding in the efforts as well was A.C.S. “Relay for Life” worker Donna Darcangelo of nearby Sharon, Pa.  “I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Donna,” added Emig.  “She has always been a driving force in cancer fundraising projects throughout the region and has always been a great help to me in race-related fundraisers activities.”
