CHAPMAN’S CAN-AM MOTORSPORTS PARK CONTINUES FORWARD MOMENTUM OF FASTRAK NORTHEAST; NY SPEEDWAY TO RUN FASTRAK WEEKLY IN 2012

(Pulaski, PA)…The FASTRAK Racing Series is pleased to welcome on its newest addition to its weekly-sanction speedways as Chapman’s Can-Am Motorsports Park will run the FASTRAK Late Models weekly on Saturday nights in 2012.  The LaFargeville, New York facility will mark the northernmost track in the history of FASTRAK, which will begin its ninth year of operations in 2012.

“We’re extremely excited that Can-Am has chosen FASTRAK to sanction its Crate Late Model division,” acknowledged sixth year FASTRAK Northeast Co-Director Vicki Emig.  “New York has been an area we have really wanted to develop and the addition of Can-Am will certainly go a long way toward that goal.  We had an excellent meeting with their racers along with track owner Tiger Chapman and general manager Chip Burdick and last month in Watertown and felt confident they would make the move to FASTRAK.”

While Northeast Dirt Modifieds rule the speedways in New York, Can-Am will actually begin their fourth year of the Crate Late Model division in 2012, which began with only a handful of drivers in 2009.  Last year, Can-Am was getting steady fields of 15+ cars as total of 39 different racers competed throughout the year.  The FASTRAK-sanction will now allow it’s racers to be under a standardized national set of enforced rules and will give its racers the ability to be part of the Weekly Series Championship, compete in Northeast Touring Series events and of course the popular season ending lucrative Grand Nationals.

One racer very thrilled to be part of the FASTRAK Series is high school racer Jordan Keruskie.  The Watertown, New York driver finished fourth in last year’s points and has two career wins at the track.  Keruskie has already declared his intentions to compete for the 2012 “Futures Cup”- another FASTRAK program Can-Am racers can take part in.

“Each year since FASTRAK kicked off in the Northeast in 2007 we’ve been able to add new speedways,” stated sixth year Northeast Co-Director Mike Leone.  “Last year we were thrilled to add Canada’s Humberstone Speedway (located just 15 miles west of the NY border) to give us an International presence and now we’ve finally been able to expand into central New York with the addition of Can-Am.  We really feel this will open up the door to additional speedways in the central New York and eastern Ontario area to give serious consideration to the FASTRAK program in the near future.”

Can-Am, which is set to open on Saturday, April 21, will allow its racers to use up its supply of Hoosier LM-40’s through May, but beginning June 1, all competitors will be required to be on the FASTRAK Hoosier spec FT200 or 400.  Those tires will be available for purchase at Number One Speed Equipment, which is located at 712 Bradley St., Watertown, NY 13601.  They can be reached at 315-782-2225.
